Home Visiting Service
What is it?
The home visiting service is a regular visit from a friendly and reliable volunteer. These visits can be to reduce loneliness by providing you with some company in your home for a chat, they can be to build confidence by helping you get out and about such as to the shops or they can be to reduce social isolation by supporting you to access groups and activities.
The visits can be weekly or fortnightly and will last around 2 hours.
Who can be referred?
Any adult living with sight loss in Calderdale can be referred to the service, although priority will be given to those whose main barrier is sight loss.
Does it cost anything?
No, the service itself does not cost anything, however you will be responsible for any costs incurred for yourself and the volunteer during outings. This may be things such as bus or taxi fares, entrance fees etc.
